US magazine Maxim March 2008 issue suggests Garbage may have a new album in 9 months time.
"One of the 90's coolest bands is in the studio and drummer Butch Vig says their new disc will lean towards "melancholy bummer music"."
(That will be December 2008. This information has not been confirmed by the band themselves or Geffen.)
In April 2008 Eric Avery's debut album Help Wanted is due for release. Avery is Garbage tour bass guitarist and a very very good friend of the band. Shirley appears on track 5 'Maybe'. The song was written by Avery and is said to be "lovely dark and deep, due partly to the lilting contribution of singer Shirley Manson". The audio of the duet is here
in late February Wendy Schneider will be holding a screening of her documentary, “CUT: Teens and Self Injury,” in the Memorial Union, Madison. Shirley Manson says: “I think one of the reasons it [self injury] is prevalent with women is because the way our culture is at present, it’s really unacceptable for girls to be violent.”
